i d'one like cricket

I dohn laaik crickeet, I luv it!

Well well, CWC 2007 is now firmly getting underaway. Yes, it's a six
week marathon but the initial claims of the qualifiers being a waste
of time have already been substantiated with Pakistan being booted out
after only two games. There's hollywood in the tale of saffers and
ozzies in green comfortably beating the bearded ones in green, on st
patties, the day of green. Go Andre Botha, you beauty!

To get in the spirit of things, we took a trip to Newlands on Friday
night for the Pro20 semifinal. It was all there - sixes, catches,
hotties, mexican waves and it came down to the very last ball. The
game see-sawed with us getting them out cheap, racing ahead,
collapsing to 60/5, rebuilding with a few sixes, only to lose 2
wickets in the final over. Alan Dawson, go you good thing, 2 runs to
long on by the number 10. The definite highlight was 'small field' and
'the philanderer" carving some huge sixes to get us back in it. Spare
a thought for Benji from my res at varsity, run out without facing a
ball!

Of course not many people actually watch the cricket, and it was no
disappointment here. We ended up next a bunch of clutchplates who were
getting well stuck into their contraband (using the t&t method of
brandy in domes), even dopping out of hardhats.

I'll be glued to SABC3, good thing it fits into my work schedule, get
used to some midnight (run)feasts, and we're all looking forward to SA
vs Oz on Sat 24 march

Gotta love it - though the live coverage is a bit short down under - I'll be out in force, come Sunday morning, to give some support to SAffirs from a Sydney pub. I think I have been shown the "Gibbs, you just dropped the world cup!" clip about 10 times in the last week http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x-m5lt9gdQ)
